Have you ever asked yourself how it is to perform an English school’s play and how it is to be an actor or an actress? Then let me tell you about my experience with acting in a play named „A Villa on Venus“ by David Taylor in an English theatre workshop.
On a sunny Monday morning (May 7th 2018) my class had to be in their room at 7:45.p.m.. Almost my whole class was waiting in there; then a guy called David Taylor introduced us to the world of acting. Every actor has to know his lines before he can act out his role, that is why we all had to learn them for our workshop a week before. David asked us out who was going to play which role. Then he discussed the costumes with us which we were expected to wear the next day. Right after the discussion we started rehearsing until 1:40.
On the next day we once again started at 8 a.m and were ready to do our very best to act out our roles convincingly, as David was going to film us. It took a long time until every scene was finished, because some of us were making mistakes
(me included) or as David said,“Hoppalas.“
At 1:40 we eventually went home. I’m sure that all of us were proud and had had a lot of fun.
At the end I want to thank David Taylor for doing the theatre workshop with us ( my class has a reputation of being sassy, so maybe it was not an easy job for him) and thanks to our English teacher, Ms Mathis Karin, who had organised the two exciting days!
Svenja Walser, 4b
PS: Thanks to 4c, who also did the workshop with David: Without them the workshop would have cost a lot more:)
